Sustainable architecture
Our cabins are a testament to eco-friendly design, constructed using natural and local materials.
The palm roofs that shelter our guests are sourced from the island itself, offering a piece of Ometepe's spirit. The bamboo, integral to our construction, grows on our land, ensuring minimal environmental impact. We’ve harvested 1.000 meters in length of bamboo for our new yoga shala and other projects in three years. Even the bricks that form the foundation of our haven are made and fired here, using traditional methods that celebrate the island's rich heritage.
This dedication to local sourcing allows for 70% of all construction investments to go into the local economy, fostering a sustainable and self-sufficient community.
Renewable Energy
Embracing the abundant sunshine on Ometepe, we’re proud to be 100% off-grid, relying entirely on our own systems for energy. With 62 solar panels we are producing on average 124.000 watts of electricity per day in optimal conditions to power our cabins, the restaurant and bar, and other facility operations.
We are closer than ever to achieving 100% sustainable renewable energy, a leap towards energy independence that not only reduces our carbon footprint but also aligns with our vision of living in harmony with the elements.
Community engagement
Our dedication to sustainability extends to the heart of Ometepe's community. We have a core team of local employees, we're not just a resort; we're a family. We invest in the growth of our team by facilitating diverse training opportunities in agriculture, transportation, hospitality, and wellness practices. Our team completed 100 hours of training in 2023 through INTUR government programs and the Totoco initiative.
